Millwork

Millwork is the difference between furniture placed in a room and joinery that belongs to it. Bought storage leaves gaps at the wall, stops short of the ceiling, and ignores the fact that the floor isn’t level and the corner isn’t square. Custom work is measured to the room as it actually is.

That precision is also why it has to be planned early. Millwork has to account for the surrounding systems — outlets, returns, lighting, wiring for a television — and a cabinet drawn before those are located is a cabinet that gets modified on site. Dibico built its first work in a woodshop, and cabinetry, paneling, and trim still come out of our own shop today.

We plan the layouts and define the scope, work through shop drawings, field measurements, and material selection, and coordinate with your designer where one is involved. Fabrication is scheduled against the construction sequence so pieces arrive when the space is ready for them.

Installation and finishing are overseen on site, with one point of contact throughout — because millwork is judged on how it meets the wall, and that is decided during installation, not on the drawing.
